WoW Classic: Blizzard continues to banish innocent players

On community platforms such as Reddit, reports from WoW Classic players who have been falsely banned by Blizzard for using unauthorized programs are again piling up. So the whole system of the developers continues to function incorrectly. There is currently no indication that the problem will improve with the release of TBC Classic.

The Blizzard ban system is frustratingly unreliable. Over the past year and a half, accounts of WoW Classic players have repeatedly been banned from using unauthorized programs who then claimed to be innocent. In many cases, however, a new, more in-depth investigation of the case was only possible if the person concerned raised enough dust on the Internet. After being viewed again by a Blizzard employee, many of the exemptions were then lifted.

Several new reports from players on community platforms such as Reddit show that this problem is still an issue (and will unfortunately also be an issue in TBC Classic). They can be summarized as follows:

The affected players suddenly found that their account was permanently banned. The reason “Offense: Exploitative Activity: Unauthorized Cheat Programs (Hacks)”.

The actions that supposedly led to the spell: an extensive fishing round in the Plaguelands, boost runs in Maraudon, numerous tribute farm rounds in Dire Maul North.

All those affected believe that they were reported by some other player – for fun, because they spent a long time in the corresponding dungeons (and were therefore mistaken for bots ?!), because the search for those interested in boosting in the chat could have been annoying.

There was usually a generic answer to the first ticket: We looked at the case again and confirmed the pronounced penalty.

Further tickets always led to further answers that were not very helpful. There were never any details on the alleged violation. Some of the answers from Blizzard contradicted each other. Sometimes the sentence was changed from permanent to 6 months, but it was always unclear on what basis this decision was made.

At some point, a post from those affected followed on Reddit, which generated increased attention.
